Brush a wavy or curly style out and it ends up very full with the curls much less defined. You can finger curl it back, and it will take time, which is worth knowing before your first morning rather than after it.
The wave is part of the fiber, not something you put in. Wash in cold water, hang the wig upside down until it is completely dry, and the pattern comes back on its own. No curling iron, no heat of any kind, because heat melts the fiber.
If your own hair is very frizzy or curly, brushing the piece out to match it is a fair choice, as long as you know what you are trading.
