10 Best Tips for Wearing Toppers
1. Preparing Your Topper to Wear
If you purchased a wavy or curly style, DO NOT BRUSH IT!! Use your fingers or a GSW Curly Comb to gently separate the curls. If your own hair is very frizzy/curly, you can opt to brush the topper out, but know that it will end up very full and the curls will be less defined. You can finger curl the hair back to a more defined curl, but it will take time.

#3. Attaching Your Topper to Your Hair
Open the metal wig clips on the topper. Hold the front of the piece with both hands and flip it up and over your head and place the 2 front clips at your hair line. Do not slide the clips back. Close the clips.
Now run your hands along your topper to find the back clips. Spread your own hair apart where the clip is going to go and attach the clip to the hair closest to your scalp. Do one side at a time.
If you want to use your own bangs with the topper, pull your bangs out before attaching the front clips.
#4. Attaching a Topper to Slippery or Extremely Fine Hair
If your hair is very soft or slippery: Using GSW Hair Spray, spray your own hair where you're going to attach the clips then immediately tease your hair and let it dry for a minute. Then proceed to put on your topper as directed above. This method will give the clips something to attach to.
If your hair is extremely thin or fine: Instead of attaching the front metal clips to your own hair, attach them to the Milano Top Grip (Small) instead! Put the Top Grip on just like you would a headband and attach the front clips of your topper directly to it. Attach the back clips to your own hair as described above.
#5. Making Sure It Feels Comfortable
Most clients wear their toppers every day, but it is a personal preference. If you've never worn a topper or have a sensitive head, allow yourself time to build up just like eyeglasses or contacts. If the clips on your topper are pulling at all, slightly loosen or change the placement of the clips. You can also try the Milano Top Grip (Small).#6. Securing Your Topper
If you want added security, try adding a headband or clips to your topper. You could also wear a turban, scarf or hat over it.
#7. Styling Your Topper
Once your topper is on, practice making high and low ponytails, updos, braids, pigtails and more!! Style it as if it's all your own hair!
If you purchased a machine-teased topper, remember that it's meant to give you as much or as little height as you choose, but it is not meant to be brushed completely flat. For less fullness, simply pat or smooth it down with your hands.
#8. Washing Your Topper
You want to wash your topper every 10-15 times you wear it. Be sure to use our Keep It Clean Shampoo (which gets out all the dirts and oils) and our Keep It Sleek Conditioner (which keeps it feeling like hair). Use COLD WATER only and let your topper drip dry.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE ANY INTENSE HEAT! No blow dryer, No curling iron, No flat iron. Caution near ovens, BBQs and heat lamps.
