Meet the Owners
Hi, my name is Rochelle Holt, and I am the creator and one of the owners of Godiva's Secret Wigs. When I started wearing wigs in the mid 1970's, I fell in love with the fact that when I put a wig on my head, it magically gave me permission to be that woman in the mirror. Being a Gemini, with lots of different personalities inside my body, wigs gave me the freedom and opportunity to experience all the women in me. Who made the rule we have to look the same everyday?
As I began to try more colors and styles of wigs and allowed myself to actually be each woman, the experience became even more fun. I raised my kids and their friends playing with wigs. I'd have wig parties and put wigs on my friends, even long, sexy wigs on the guys. I loved "opening the door" to the experience of wigs for everyone I knew and loved. Yes, there was hesitation for some to try on wigs, but my passion and gentle nudging helped most everyone to open themselves up to the experience of wigs. Imagine my delight when friends would come over and within an hour we'd all drive to the nearest coffee shop for dessert with everyone wearing wigs!
I stopped spending money on too many pairs of shoes. Since wigs magically made my clothes look better and my self confidence stronger, my wig collection grew larger and larger. With every new length and color I felt more self-expressed, confident and free. What fun to look in the rear view mirror while I'd drive and giggle, reminding myself which wig I had put on for the day! This is what I wanted to share with others.

In 1997, I was a single, divorced mother. I was sick of working jobs I disliked for great money, or finding jobs I loved for close to no money. Although I had no business degrees, I believed there had to be something I could feel passionate about doing each day and make great money at. My background was retail management, fashion director, motivational and sales trainer, seller of foods to schools and prisons, hard drive sales, (I'd never even seen one!) and mental health insurance sales.
I read somewhere that the only difference between successful people and unsuccessful people was that successful people did what they were supposed to do, when they were supposed to do it. Money got so tight that I had to add water to my mascara wand and a mean little voice inside me kept whispering "You can't do that! Who do you think you are? Are you crazy? You're not educated enough! You're not READY! You're too young, old, unqualified, overqualified..."
I went to war with those negative voices, stayed intentional and focused on finding a career that would make me feel purposeful, helpful, and financially healthy with a touch of fun and guess what? I started Godiva's Secret Wigs on February 13, 1997. I borrowed $3,000.00 from my dear dad and threw my "wig" so far over the fence towards the commitment of making this work that there was no going back. There was no "try," "we'll see how it goes," or "let's just wait and see what happens." Now was the time!!
From testing my wigs at Sunday Flea Markets with my daughter Danielle, who was 13 at the time, to kiosks in shopping malls to opening stores, enthusiastic clients were everywhere! We just shared the hair and they bought it! That's all you have to do! Share the hair, be a little bold, sweetly honest and share Godiva's Secret!

Hi, my name is Danielle Starkman, and I am one of the owners of Godiva's Secret Wigs, and Rochelle's daughter! Â When Rochelle first began her company, I was only 13 years old, but I already loved working with her and the wigs. Â Once I turned 16, I was selling our wigs at Topanga Plaza Mall in CA after school. Â When I finished high school, I went to a local college while working for Godiva's at the same time. Â I was taking business classes and discovering that I already knew most of what they were teaching, because I had been working in our business for over 5 years by then. Â After 3 years of school, I left to work for Godiva's Secret Wigs full time and have worked for our company ever since. Â
Godiva's Secret Wigs is the only company I have ever worked for! Â While growing up, I always knew I wanted to work in a career where I would be able to help people; little did I know that wigs would be my vehicle! Â I absolutely love being able to work side-by-side with my mom. Â I Â love how our product changes lives for the better. Â I love watching a woman's entire look and demeanor instantly change as she puts on a Godiva's Secret Wig. Â I love when clients send us before and after photos or write in our our Facebook Group and tell us how they have their freedom back because of our wigs. Â Â With each year that passes, I grow more and more passionate about what we do and become even more excited about all of the women we are able to reach. Â I am 100% devoted to Godiva's Secret Wigs and our mission!
