About Wig Shampoo & Wash Care

What do you wash a wig with, and what should you keep away from it

Everything in this collection is for high quality synthetic fiber rather than for your own hair. Regular shampoo is too harsh for a wig and strips the fiber, which is the reason our Keep It Clean shampoo exists. It carries natural plant extracts that lift oils and build-up while keeping the hair soft. Keep It Sleek conditioner is not optional. It is what keeps the fiber from feeling dry. Both come in a full size bottle, a mini, and an unscented version if fragrance bothers you. The washing itself is cold water only, wash and rinse, and it takes under a minute in a basin. Air drying is the only drying method for a wig, and a Wig Hanger gives you somewhere to hang it overnight and somewhere to keep it after. How often should you wash your wig

Your own hair told you when it needed washing. A wig gives you no such signal, so the timing is easy to get wrong. Count wears instead of guessing. Wash and condition once for every 10 to 15 times you wear it. If you wear one wig every day, that works out to roughly every two weeks.

Cold water for the wash and the rinse, both times. One capful of our Keep It Clean shampoo in a basin, swish gently, one minute or less, then rinse well. Follow with Keep It Sleek. The conditioner is not optional, because it is what keeps the fiber from drying out. Never use regular shampoo and never put a wig in a washing machine.

Shake the wig three times and hang it upside down until it is completely dry. Wash at 6 p.m. and it is dry by morning, and the style comes back on its own. Our Caring for Your Wig guide has the full steps.
