About Metal Wig Cliips
What are metal wig clips and how do they attach to your hair?
A metal wig clip is a small snap clip that gets sewn into the inside of a wig. You then close it onto a section of your own hair, so the wig is anchored to you rather than resting on you. These are the same medium clips that come already sewn into our top pieces. You can buy them one at a time or by the dozen and sew them in at home. You can also have us sew them in, choosing the color of the clip and the position it sits in around the cap. A clip closes on your own hair, and that is where its hold comes from.
How to clip a wig to your own hair
None of our full wigs come with clips in them, and that is on purpose. Where a clip belongs depends on your own hair, and it is a decision worth making after you have worn the wig a few times rather than before. Sew them in yourself, or choose the position and color and have us do it.
Clips work by closing onto your own hair, so they are the answer when you have hair to give them. Attach each one to the hair closest to your scalp rather than partway down, and do one side at a time.
If your hair is fine or slippery, clips can work loose. Spray the spot where the clip will sit, tease it lightly and let it dry for a minute. That gives the clip something to hold.
If there is very little hair for a clip to close onto, clips are not your answer, and adding more of them will not change that. That is what a wig grip or a wig cap is for, and How to Secure a Wig sets out which does what.
