Some bangs are wispy and light, blending sideways into the layers around them. Some are full and sit straight across. Some are long and side swept, long enough to tuck behind an ear or trim shorter if you want them shorter. Behind the bangs the cuts run the whole range. There are cropped short styles with feathered layers. There are chin length and shoulder length bobs. There are medium cuts with flipped or turned under ends. There are long lengths that fall past the shoulders. Straight, wavy and curly textures are all represented.

How to tell if a wig with bangs will suit you

Many bangs come long, and they are meant to be trimmed to your face. Across these styles the bangs measure between 2.5 and 7 inches, and every measurement can run up to a quarter inch either way.

Here is the check to run before you order. Measure from your hairline straight down to your eyebrow. Compare that number to the bang length recorded for the style you like. Anything longer is hair that will sit on your lashes until you trim it or sweep it to one side.

Trimming is not a job for kitchen scissors over the sink. Take the wig to a stylist experienced in cutting wigs, which our wig care guide says as well, and go slowly, because a cut cannot be undone.

Bangs cover the front hairline, and that is why they are often the easiest place to start if this is your first wig.

If you have spent years pushing your own bangs off your face, bangs on a wig will feel the same by lunchtime. You do not need them to get a natural looking result.
