Before you start, grab:

• A soft measuring tape (like the kind used for sewing)

• A mirror

• A notebook to jot down your measurements

How to Measure Your Head

To measure the circumference of your head, place a soft tape measure at the middle of your forehead at the hairline. Run it around your head, behind one ear, around the nape of your neck, behind the other ear, and back to the front at your hairline. Write down the measurement in inches.

This number helps confirm whether you fall into petite, average, or large wig sizing.

Wig Sizes at Godiva’s Secret Wigs

• Average Wigs: Fit heads measuring 21 ½–22 ½ inches in circumference. About 95% of women fit into this size.  Our best-selling Freedom wig comes in average, petite and large.

• Petite Wigs: Fit heads measuring 18–21 inches in circumference.  Petite Sheila is a fan favorite! It comes in average and large sizes as well 

• Large Wigs: Fit heads measuring 23 inches in circumference.  Taylor Large is gorgeous and perfect in the large and average sizes.

FAQs About Wig Sizing

What if my measurements are between two sizes?
If you’re between sizes, we usually recommend sizing up. You can always adjust the fit with wig grips or straps.

If I can wear a regular department store hat, will I fit in an average size wig?
Yes!  In general, if you can fit comfortably in a baseball or canvas hat at a department store, you should be able to fit in an average size wig. 

Do wigs stretch over time?
Yes, wigs can loosen slightly with regular wear, but our high-quality synthetic wigs hold their shape well.

Can I make a wig smaller or larger if needed?
Yes! All of our wigs have built-in adjustment straps, and we also share easy alteration methods in our videos.

Do I need to measure every time I buy a wig?
Once you know your size, you don’t need to remeasure often. But if your hair changes—like cutting or shaving it—it’s worth checking again.
